SPOKANE, WASH. – Seattle U men’s tennis closes out their fall season this weekend at the Gonzaga Invitational, held this year from Nov. 8-10 at the Stevens Center in Spokane, Wash. Competition will begin at 8:00 a.m. PT on Friday and Saturday, and at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
Seven programs – host Gonzaga, Idaho, Montana, Montana State, Northern Colorado, Portland and Seattle U – will send players to compete in the tournament.
In the Blue Singles draw, junior Colton Weeldreyer is slated to face Gonzaga’s Kyle Everly, while the Red Singles Draw features junior Emilio Monroy versus the Bulldogs’ Brandon Park and senior Alex Chan against Christian Damgaard Qvist of Montana State. Sophomore Jim Bauer takes on Montana’s Josh Watkins in the White Singles draw, followed by classmate Billy Givens-Jensen’s battle against Northern Colorado’s Nick Wade and senior Adrian Alvarez-Sanabria’s matchup with Montana State’s Grant Wood.
The doubles pair of Bauer and freshman Lars Schmassmann face Montana State’s pair of Manuel Monteiro and Grant Wood in the White Doubles draw; Givens-Jensen and Alvarez-Sanabria also appear in that slate against Pontus Hallgren and Josh Watkins from Montana. In the Red Doubles draw, Weeldreyer and Monroy team up against Northern Colorado’s Kyle Pease and John Giesberts, and Chan partners with fellow senior Trenton Nield for the first-round match against Hunter Egger and Matt Perkins of Gonzaga.
