CORVALLIS, ORE. – Seattle U men’s golf completed their second-to-last tournament of the fall season on Tuesday, finishing seventh out of 15 total teams at the Oregon State Invitational in Corvallis, Ore. As a team, the Redhawks finished 22 over par after three rounds of play, closing out the tournament with an even-par round three at the Trysting Tree Golf Club.
Sophomore Nathan Cogswell (75-70-72) once again led the way for the Redhawks, tying for 19th place overall with a plus-four 217. Classmate Federico Gutierrez came in just two strokes behind him with solid rounds of 72, 75 and 72, while senior Greg Gionfriddo was right on his heels, following a first day of 79-74 with an incredible third round of 67. Sophomore Jack Rahon shot two eagles in his 74-73-76 effort, while junior Quinton Borseth showed great consistency in a 77-77-73 outing.
“This team will scrap and claw and fight until the end – and I love that about them,” said Head Coach Marc Chandonnet. “I believe that our best golf is in front of us, and with this mentality we will compete for championships at some point.”
The men’s team will finish their fall season next week at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif., held over a three-day span from Oct. 21-23.
