AURORA, ORE. – Seattle U women’s golf turned in yet another successful tournament this week, finishing third as a team (+32) in a highly competitive field at the Rose City Collegiate in Aurora, Ore. They were led by freshman Azumi Arai, who shot rounds of 77, 73 and 73 to tie for eighth place out of 70 total golfers.

“Huge shoutout to Azumi,” said Head Coach Marc Chandonnet. “That’s a huge deal, to finish first on a team that almost won the conference championship last year.”

Junior Vendela From finished just two strokes behind Arai, tying for 10th overall with a performance of 75-76-74 on the par-72 course. Senior Krystal Hu posted rounds of 72, 77 and 77 to tie for 13th, while juniors Kimberlee Tottori (78-76-73) and Keisha Lugito (81-72-77) tied for 16th and 22nd place, respectively.

“This team is starting to create some very positive habits in regards to their play,” said Chandonnet. “We are very close to our breakthrough moment, and I’m confident that these ladies will have one at some point. They are an amazing group of women, and I’m excited to see what they can accomplish together over the next couple of years.”

The Redhawks have a quick turnaround for their fourth tournament of the year, as they travel to Sammamish, Wash., on Oct. 8-9 for the UW Edean Ihlanfelt Invite.
