SEATTLE – Seattle University women’s soccer has announced the addition of two student-athletes for the 2019 season. Gabe Jillings and Rakel Leosdottir will join Coach Julie Woodward’s squad for the upcoming year.
Jillings is a White Rock, British Columbia, native. She played last season at Arizona and will have three years of eligibility remaining at SU. Jillings appeared in 16 games with the Wildcats, tallying a goal and an assist.
"Gabe's workrate, combined with her technical ability and experience, will make her instant factor for our team," said Woodward.
Leosdottir is a native of Reykjavik, Iceland. She was a member of her club team that won a national tournament in 2011, 2013, and 2015. In 2016, she earned team MVP honors as her side won a cup tournament. Leosdottir appeared with the U-17 Icelandic National Team in 2015.
"Rakel's versatility at the '9' or '10' will add a composed presence in our attack," said Woodward. "Her international style will take our tactics to another level."
SU won the 2018 WAC Tournament, securing its fourth NCAA Tournament bid since 2013. It is the lone program in Division I to appear in each of its last six conference finals.
