SEATTLE – Seattle University men’s soccer has announced its 2019 schedule. The Redhawks will host 10 games at Championship Field, including a date with Washington on Sept. 15. Overall, Seattle U will face seven teams that played in the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
Entering his 26th season at SU, Coach Pete Fewing will look to continue his program’s run of success in 2019. The Redhawks are one of just four Division I programs to win at least 11 games in each of the last six seasons. Coincidentally, Seattle U will take on two of the other programs to achieve the feat in a one-week span in 2019 (Denver, Notre Dame) as part of a challenging slate.
Seattle U kicks off the regular season with a home contest against San Francisco on Aug. 30. Three days later, Denver visits Championship Field for a non-conference showdown.
The following weekend, SU heads to South Bend, Ind., for two marquee matches. It plays at Notre Dame on Sept. 6 before facing Indiana in South Bend two days later. The Irish and Hoosiers faced off in the 2018 NCAA Tournament quarterfinals, with IU advancing to the College Cup for a second straight season.
The Redhawks return home for two more key games, as Portland comes to campus on Sept. 12 and then UW visits three days later to wrap up a five-game stretch that features five teams that qualified for the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
On Sept. 19, SU travels to UC Santa Barbara. It follows with a game at Cal Poly on Sept. 23 to close non-conference action.
Fewing’s squad opens WAC play with a three-game homestand. It welcomes California Baptist on Sept. 28 before Houston Baptist (Oct. 4) and Kansas City (Oct. 6) come to Championship Field.
SU hits the road for three straight in mid-October, as matches at UNLV (Oct. 11), defending WAC Tournament Champions Grand Canyon (Oct. 13), and CSU Bakersfield (Oct. 19) loom.
On Oct. 25, the Redhawks come back to Seattle as 2018 NCAA Tournament qualifier Air Force visits. Two days later, SU faces Utah Valley at Championship Field.
After contests at Incarnate Word (Nov. 1) and UTRGV (Nov. 3), Seattle U hosts San Jose State on senior day Nov. 9 to cap the regular season.
Air Force will host the 2019 WAC Tournament from Nov. 13-17.
