LAKEWOOD, WASH. – As the first round of the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Tournament came to a close on Saturday, Seattle U’s five-man squad found themselves in fourth place with a combined seven-over 291. New Mexico State currently leads the field at one under par after 18 holes at the Oakbrook Golf Club.
Junior Zack Overstreet leads the Redhawks at even-par 71, good for a sixth-place tie, followed by sophomore Gabe Spach’s eighth-place round of 72. Freshman Jack Rahon and junior Greg Gionfriddo finished the day deadlocked at plus-three 74, and freshman Nathan Cogswell rounded out the lineup with a five-over 76.
The first groups will tee off tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. for round two of the tournament.
