LAKEWOOD, WASH. – In the second day of the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championships at Oakbrook Golf Club in Lakewood, Wash., Seattle U battled its way into first place as a team after two rounds with a total of 18 strokes over par – one stroke ahead of second-place New Mexico State. Sophomore Vendela From also retained her first-place tie after shooting two-over 73, remaining deadlocked with New Mexico State’s Dominique Galloway and Utah Valley's Kaylee Shimizu. All three are at even-par going into the third round.
Sophomore Kimberlee Tottori matched her results from the first round, shooting another 72 to grab sole possession of fourth place at two-over. Junior Krystal Hu remained in third for the Redhawks, adding a round of 78 to the previous day’s 73 to finish at plus-9, and sophomore Keisha Lugito greatly improved by shooting a 73 on the day to add to her first round of 79 for a 10-over total. Senior Yen Ting Wong followed just behind, posting a 76 to bring her total up to plus-12.
Seattle U hopes to hang onto their lead throughout tomorrow, the last day of the tournament. The first competitors will tee off at 8:00 a.m. while the Redhawks will tee off in the final pairings between 9:40-10:20 a.m. The team champion will earn the WAC's automatic bid into the 2019 NCAA Tournament field.
