NEW YORK – Sergio Rivas of Seattle University men’s soccer has been invited to the 2019 adidas Major League Soccer (MLS) Combine, the league announced Thursday. The senior is part of the initial group of 60 college players invited to the event, which will be held from Jan. 3-9 in Orlando, Fla.

Rivas, a midfielder from Albuquerque, N.M., recorded four goals and 11 assists in 2018. He tallied the fourth-most assists in the nation. Rivas was chosen United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team, All-WAC First Team, and WAC All-Tournament Team.

In his career, Rivas put up 19 goals and 27 assists. His assist total ranks second in WAC history. He made 84 starts in his Redhawk career, helping SU win two WAC Tournaments, one WAC regular-season title, and a pair of NCAA Tournament victories.

Representatives from all 24 MLS franchises will be present at the combine next month. The 2019 MLS SuperDraft will be held on Friday, Jan. 11, in Chicago.

Alex Roldan was selected in the first round of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, becoming the fourth SU player in program history to be picked.
