DENVER – Isabelle Butterfield and Jessie Ray of Seattle University women’s soccer have been named 2018 CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team.

Butterfield, a senior from Bellevue, Wash., earned All-WAC Second Team honors after a stellar season in the midfield. She graduated in June, majoring in computer science and mathematics. Butterfield is now working toward a Master’s degree and has a 3.95 grade point average at SU.

Ray, a Portland, Ore., native, is a junior with a 3.89 GPA in cell and molecular biology. The forward was an All-WAC Second Team selection. She leads the Redhawks with eight goals and seven assists in 2018.

Butterfield and Ray were two of four Western Athletic Conference (WAC) student-athletes to be chosen to the Academic All-District squads.

Kiana Kraft and Kelly Beck were the last Redhawks to be selected, following the 2015 season.

Seattle U plays at Stanford in an NCAA Tournament match on Friday. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. at Cagan Stadium.

The Redhawks won their fourth WAC Tournament title last weekend, beating Kansas City, 1-0, in the final. Butterfield and Ray were both named to the all-tournament team at Utah Valley.
