SEATTLE – Seattle University volleyball closed out the weekend Western Athletic Conference homestand with 25-23, 25-13, 25-20 defeat to UTRGV Saturday afternoon in the Redhawk Center.

Senior setter Shae Harris collected her seventh double-double of the season, finishing with 27 assists and 10 digs, while also adding two kills and three blocks on the day. Rachel Stark led the Redhawk attack with eight kills while Maja Stojanovic and Julia Queiroz chipped in seven apiece.

"Shae had one of her most complete matches of the season and orchestrated a good match," said Head Coach James Finley. "We continue to show our youth at times and struggle with inconsistency. Our focus moving forward is our mindset, to keep taking care of the little things, as that's what makes the big things happen."

The Redhawks (9-16, 2-10 WAC) jumped out to a 5-0 lead to open the match, forcing a Vaqueros' time out early. SU led 10-5 before UTRGV (19-8, 10-3 WAC) slowly began to chip away. The visitors tied the set at 16-all on a kill from Barbara Silva and would eventually claim the 25-23 win.

UTRGV hit a match-high .467 in the second set on its way to a 25-13 win. The teams would battle through the third set before the Vaqueros hung on for 25-20 final to clinch the match.
