SEATTLE – Seattle University volleyball dropped a tightly-contested three-set decision, 25-23, 25-19, 26-24, to Western Athletic Conference rival New Mexico State Thursday evening in the Redhawk Center.
The Redhawks move to 9-15 on the season and 2-9 in WAC play while the Aggies improve to 18-6 on the year and 8-3 in league action.
The Redhawks tallied a 7.0-3.0 advantage in blocks over the Aggies, but could do little to stop NMSU's Megan Hart, who finished with a match-high 16 kills on 21 swings and just two errors for a .667 hitting percentage. The Aggies also served up nine aces to the Redhawks' three.
The match was closely battled throughout, featuring 29 tie scores and 11 lead changes. The Redhawks held a 21-18 lead late in the third set, nearly forcing a fourth set, but the Aggies would turn the tide late to complete the three-set decision.
Seattle U continues its WAC homestand on Saturday, hosting UTRGV at 1 p.m. in the Redhawk Center. The match will stream live on the WAC Digital Network.
