EDINBURG, Texas – Offensive woes continued to plague Seattle University volleyball Saturday afternoon as the Redhawks dropped a 25-22, 25-16, 25-20 final at Western Athletic Conference rival UTRGV.
Seattle U dropped to an even 8-8 on the season and 1-2 in WAC play while the Vaqueros improved to 12-6 overall and 3-1 in the league.
Freshman Eve Kerschenbaum led the Redhawks with 11 kills and hit at a .360 clip, but was the only Seattle U player in double figures on the day. Fellow freshman Julia Queiroz had six kills on eight swings with just one error for a .625 hitting percentage.
Seattle U earned a 5.0-0.0 advantage in blocks over the Vaqueros, but also struggled on serve and serve receive. The Redhawks managed just two aces to UTRGV's 12. They also committed nine service errors.
Tijana Milosevic was solid on defense, finishing with 19 digs in the three-set match. Shae Harris tallied her second straight double-double, finishing with 24 assists and 11 digs.
The Redhawks return home to the Redhawk Center on Thursday, Oct. 4, hosting WAC member Utah Valley. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
