A second-year law student here at Seattle University, Carey Campbell joins the track and field staff fresh from a coaching position at Ballard High School. In his undergraduate career at the University of Washington, Campbell led the team as a hammer and shot put specialist and was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team, also garnering two conference All-Academic Honorable Mentions. He will be the primary throwing coach at Seattle U.
Originally born in Munster, Ind., Campbell was one of the top shot putters in Washington State as a student of Lake Stevens High School, winning the district title in 2012 and taking third place overall in the 4A State Championships in 2012 and 2013. He also played on Lake Stevens’ varsity football team for three years, and was named to the all-district First Team in 2012 as an offensive lineman.
