COEUR D’ALENE, IDAHO – Seattle U women’s golf took on several talented teams, many of whom boasted nationally ranked golfers, on Sept. 24-25 at the Coeur d’Alene Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Gonzaga University at the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The Redhawks competed against Brigham Young, California, Colorado State, Florida International, Gonzaga, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Long Beach State, Nevada, Northern Arizona, San Jose State, UC Irvine, UNLV and Wichita State. At the end of two days and three rounds of competition on the par-71 course, Seattle U finished in 16th place as a team, with a total score of 49 over par.
Junior Krystal Hu ended up with the Redhawks’ best score, posting two rounds of 75 before capping things off with a round of even-par 71, good for a final of eight-over 221 and a 32nd-place tie in the field of 90.
"Excited about Krystal's first event at Seattle U," said Head Coach Marc Chandonnet. "She's proven right away that she'll be a positive addition, and will definitely make things more competitive during championship season."
Hu was closely followed by redshirt junior Linette Chua (77-71-78), who posted her own even-par round on Monday afternoon and finished with 13 over par.
Sophomore Kimberlee Tottori improved her game by three strokes in every round, finishing with scores of 79, 76 and 73 for a total of 15-over, while fellow sophomore Vendela From (81-75-75) posted eighteen-over. Junior Nicole Foster rounded things out with rounds of 76, 77 and 79 for a total score of nineteen-over par in the tournament.
Next, the Redhawks head to Aurora, Ore., on Oct. 1-2 for the Rose City Intercollegiate, hosted by Portland State University.
