SEATTLE - Seattle University women’s tennis will open its season on Friday, Sept. 21 at the Washington State University-hosted Cougar Classic in Pullman, Wash. Individuals from Washington State, Boise State, Idaho, Montana State and Seattle U will compete in this year’s tournament. The Redhawks have not competed in this particular event since 2014, which makes it a new experience for everyone on the current roster.

This year’s nine-woman team boasts four returners: senior Lily-Ana Kreutzer, junior Kali McCollister, and sophomores Hannah Gianan and reigning WAC Freshman of the Year Kyra Jung. Five new faces join the squad, all of them freshmen: Martina Asciuto, Hannah Grossman, Jillian Rasmussen, Alisa Sabotic, and Aranza Sanabria.

Interim Coach Chris Borden expressed his eagerness to get the season started. “I look forward to an exciting fall season," he said. "We only have a few days of practice before our first competition, so I expect all of our student-athletes to come back fit and ready to compete.”

The Cougar Classic will last three days, finishing on Sunday, Sept. 23.
