SEATTLE – (August 9) Seattle University women’s soccer played 100 minutes of scoreless soccer against Highline College in an exhibition Thursday night. The Redhawks held a 16-2 advantage in shots at Championship Field.

“It was good to get a game under our belts,” said Coach Julie Woodward. “We got good experience for a lot of players tonight. We’ll get back out Saturday for another chance to improve.”

SU dominated possession for the vast majority of the game, tilting the field throughout each of the three 30-minute periods. It earned several chances in the first frame, challenging the Thunderbirds, but the visitors kept the match even.

Woodward used the game as an opportunity to gain experience for her young roster, which features 13 newcomers. Twenty-five Redhawks appeared in the game, including Mackenzie Curry and Ariana Romero in net. Each keeper made a save on the night.

SU hosts Trinity Western in another exhibition contest on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. at Championship Field. Admission is free.
