CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL | DAY 2 RESULTS

LAWRENCE, Kan. – (May 10) Olivia Stein opened the Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the best possible way for Seattle University. She took the gold medal in the 10k at the Rock Chalk Park on Thursday evening.

Stein, a junior from Portland, won the silver medal in the same event last year, but this year she was determined to improve on that result. She finished the race in 35:51.29 to highlight day two of the championship.

“Really excited for Olivia and the way she raced and eventually won against a really strong field tonight,” head coach Kelly Sullivan said. “She came into the race as the #4 seed and kept up with the top three the whole race until pressing the pace towards the end and running away with the win. She’s had a great year from cross country through indoor and now outdoor and we are looking forward to one more race from her on Saturday in the 5k.”

Day two was the first day of competing for the Redhawks and Stein got them started on the right foot. Other than the women’s 10k, the only other event for SU today was the men’s 10k where Collin Olson finished with a time of 33:52.23 and took sixth place.

“I was very pleased with Collin’s performance,” Sullivan said. “It was great to see him end his career by scoring for the first time.”

Day three on Friday will see most of the Redhawks participating in their respective events. For live results click HERE.
