BELLEVUE, Wash. – (May 8) Seattle University baseball dropped a 13-2 non-conference decision to Portland Tuesday afternoon at Bannerwood Park.
The Redhawks (30-16) managed just six total hits off of Pilot pitchers Kevin Baker and Tate Budnick, while Portland's battery exploded for 18 hits.
Seattle U starter Jarrod Billig took the loss after surrendering four runs in the opening frame and three more in the fourth before giving way to the bullpen. Drake Maningo pitched 2.2 innings and Connor O'Brien made his second appearance this year on the mound.
Chase Wells drove in the two Redhawk runs of the game as his triple to left center in the third inning sent Cameron Sterne and Lucas Denney across home plate. The triple was wells' fourth of the season.
Six different Redhawks finished with one hit apiece.
The Redhawks and Pilots (18-26) do battle again on Wednesday with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. at Bannerwood Park.
