BELLEVUE, Wash. – (Apr. 28) A seven-run first inning helped propel Seattle University baseball to an 8-6 win over CSU Bakersfield Saturday afternoon at Bannerwood Park, evening the Western Athletic Conference series to one game apiece.

The Redhawks (28-12, 9-5 WAC) went all the way through the lineup and then some in the home half of the first. Four hits, four walks and two CSUB errors later, it was quickly a 7-0 Seattle U lead.

The 'Runners would rally, however, scoring once in the fourth, three times in the fifth and once in the sixth to make it a 7-5 ballgame. Sean Sutton delivered his second RBI-single of the game in the sixth to make it 8-5, Redhawks.

CSUB added an unearned run in the seventh off of reliever Nathan Bonck, but the sophomore tossed a scoreless eighth inning and Tyler Yeh earned his first save of the year with a scoreless ninth inning.

Jake Prizina moved to 6-0 on the season after fanning five and scattering 10 hits for five runs in six innings. CSUB starter Nathan Dewsnap took the loss.

Jake Cosgrove finished with three hits for the Redhawks while Sutton went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Chase Wells added a pair of hits.

The rubber match between the Redhawks and 'Runners is set for Sunday at noon at Bannerwood Park.
