SEATTLE – (April 25) Seattle University women’s basketball held its annual team banquet on Tuesday night. The Redhawks celebrated their first-ever Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championship season at the Crowne Plaza Downtown in Seattle.

SU honored its senior class, as Jacinta Beckley, Ashlyn Lewey, and Alexis Montgomery were recognized for their achievements. Beckley spoke on her time at Seattle U, while the underclassmen shared reflections on the seniors.

Coach Suzy Barcomb and her staff gave out awards to members of the team. Genessa Bedoya won the “Together We Soar” award as best teammate and Delaney McCann won the “Iron Hawk” award for work in strength and conditioning. Kallin Spiller was named “Most Improved” and Kamira Sanders earned “Most Outstanding Defensive Player”. Lewey picked up the team’s “Scholarship, Skill, & Determination” honor, while Montgomery won the “Challenge, Commitment, & Courage” award.

The Redhawks won the the 2018 WAC Championship and made their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Montgomery was named All-WAC First Team and WAC All-Defensive Team, while Spiller was selected WAC Freshman of the Year and WAC All-Newcomer Team. Beckley was an All-WAC Second Team choice and Sanders won WAC Tournament MVP.
