BELLEVUE, Wash. – (Apr. 15) Seattle University baseball completed the series sweep of visiting Alcorn State Sunday afternoon with an 11-1, 7-inning final at Bannerwood Park.
The Redhawks (23-10) broke open a 1-1 game with a 10-run sixth. A Cameron Sterne two-RBI triple got the rally going and, later, a Kyler Murphy three-run homer helped seal the deal. Chase Wells added a two-run double, Lucas Denney singled in a run and two others scored on a walk and wild pitch in the frame.
Nick Meservey got his third start of the season and his lowest appearance yet. The junior lefty went two complete, striking a pair along the way. Tyler Yeh (4-4) earned the win in four innings of relief. The sophomore fanned seven and scattered four hits for one run. Nathan Bonck closed out the seventh with a pair of strikeouts.
Alcorn State (8-27) starter Bukhari Brown took the loss after surrendering five runs in 5.1 innings.
Seattle U collected 10 hits, including two by Wells. Eight other players had one hit apiece. Austin Lively drew three walks in the game, extending his reached-bases streak to 30 consecutive games.
