SEATTLE – (Apr. 12) A month-long homestand for Seattle University baseball continues this week as the Redhawks take a break from WAC play to host non-conference opponent Alcorn State. The first of a three-game series is scheduled for Friday, Apr. 13 at 5 p.m. at Bannerwood Park. Sunday is Little League Day at the game where kids in 8th grade and under wearing a Little League jersey get in free!

  • The Redhawks swept a doubleheader from Air Force on Tuesday by scores of 4-1 and 11-5. The wins were Nos. 19 and 20 on the season, which secures eight straight seasons of 20 wins or more for the program that was revived in 2010.
  • The Redhawks are batting a collective .303, led by freshman Justin Mazzone's .400 average (18-for-45). Sophomore Austin Lively is batting .389 with a team-high 42 hits, including eight doubles, a triple and a home run. 
  • Dalton Hurd is tied with Lively in hits with 42, including 10 doubles, one triple and four home runs. The senior centerfielder also leads the way with 29 RBI.
  • Freshman Jake Cosgrove is batting .348 while ranking third on the team in hits with 32. The rookie also has eight extra-base hits including five doubles, two triples and one home run.
  • The Redhawks have 77 total extra-base hits on the year, including 52 doubles, eight triples and 17 home runs. Dalton Hurd has four of those homers while Lucas Denney and Curtis Perrin have three each and seven others have one each.
  • Jake Prizina leads the pitching staff with a 3.48 ERA, 4-0 record and one save in eight starts and nine total apperances. The junior lefty has a team-high 58 strikeouts to go along with just seven walks issued in 51.2 total innings.
  • Redshirt junior Tarik Skubal is also 4-0 with a 3.82 ERA. He has 47 strikeouts in 37.2 innings while also holding batters to a .173 average.
  • Closer Zach Wolf also continues to dominate. At 3-0 with seven saves and a 3.04 ERA in 17 appearances, Wolf has fanned 32 batters in 23.2 innings. He holds opponents to a .198 average.
  • Chase Wells was named WAC Player of the Week for the week of March 26-April 1. He collected eight hits, including a triple and a home run, on his way to batting .615 in a three-game series at Chicago State.
  • Dalton Hurd hit his fourth home run of the season on Mar. 24 at New Mexico State, giving him 16 for his career, which makes him the Redhawks' career leader. He passed Josh Kalalau, who hit 15 home runs from 2010-11.
  • Zach Wolf was named WAC Pitcher of the Week on March 19. He picked up a trio of saves as the Redhawks went 3-0 against Pacific Northwest opponents.
  • The Redhawks were selected fourth in the WAC preseason poll, as voted on by the league's nine head coaches. New Mexico State was selected to finish second, and earned a pair of first-place votes.
