SEATTLE - (Jan. 10) The Seattle University track and field team will get the 2018 season underway this weekend, as they compete in the UW Indoor Preview on Saturday at Dempsey Indoor on the campus of the University of Washington.

Did you know: Senior sprinter Madison Lichter is a Yankees fan? In preparation for the meet, Lichter revealed this, and a few other things by answering questions to get to know her a little better.

Where are you from?

Snohomish, Washington. About an hour north of Seattle.

What attracted you to Track and Field?

I have always been a very active person and have done a variety of activities, like volleyball, soccer, ballet, horseback riding and then track! Track gave me a competitive rush that I had never felt before in any other sport and I loved it from my first race.

What is your favorite event to participate in?

I have always favored the 100-meter race because who wouldn’t love being done with a race in seconds?

What is your favorite thing about living in Seattle?

I knew that I didn’t want to go far from home, so Seattle was always in my future. I will admit I’m one of those crazy people that love the grey, dreary Seattle days.

What kind of music would we find on your phone?

I listen to just about everything, other than country (ironic I know, coming from a small farm town).

What is your favorite type of food?

Can’t go wrong with a good donut or cinnamon roll.

Who is your favorite athlete?

I respect any athlete that balances all avenues of their life while also focusing on their sport, all while staying humble and thankful.

What is your best memory as a Redhawk?

Our team bonding nights! Sometimes we get together as a team and watch movies, particularly scary movies. Some of those boys on the team scream louder than the girls, while also covering their eyes. I’m in the same boat though! Why can’t we watch nice happy movies?

What is your favorite tv show, and why?

It is very rare for me to sit down and watch a show, but I will say I am a big fan of any crime or mystery show. Mindhunter on Netflix is my current choice.

What is your hidden talent?

I can make a wide variety of animal noises (particularly birds) – Self-taught!

What is your favorite, and least favorite subject in school?

I avoid all things related to numbers, however, I do enjoy writing and research (criminal justice related mostly, there’s a theme here).

Other than track and field, what is your favorite sport to watch, and why?

I love to watch volleyball because of the fast-paced games and the high intensity. But by default, baseball! Go Yankees!!

What is your favorite hobby?

When I have the time, I love to sit down and read a good book (crime-related of course). Some may say I’m also very skilled in the shopping department.

If you were stuck on an island with one teammate, who would it be, and why?

Easy! Maia Sparkman hands down. We have been best pals since freshman year, and I know she could convince all the animals to spare our lives and she would force me to eat my vegetables.
