SEATTLE – (Nov. 20) Kamira Sanders of Seattle University women’s basketball has been named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Week, for the period ending Nov. 19. Sanders was key in the Redhawks’ 2-0 road trip this weekend.

On Nov. 17, Sanders, a native of Redding, Calif., recorded 21 points on 8-10 shooting in SU’s record-setting comeback at UC Santa Barbara. The Redhawks rallied from 21 points down in the third quarter, outscoring the Gauchos, 32-11, in the fourth period. The sophomore scored 13 points in the fourth. Sanders tied a career high with nine rebounds and posted six assists, a personal best. She also added four steals in the win.

On Sunday at Pepperdine, Sanders tallied 14 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals in a 65-62 victory.

Sanders is averaging 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game this season. She is shooting 6-12 (.500) from three-point range.

The Redhawks (2-2) welcome Portland State on Wednesday night. The non-conference game is slated for a 6 p.m. tip-off at the Connolly Complex.
