SEATTLE - (Nov. 10) The Seattle U cross country team ran for the final time in 2017 at the NCAA West Regionals at Jefferson Park Golf Course on Friday in Seattle. The women's 6k included 36 teams while the men's 10k included 30. The Redhawks finished 26th in both events.

For the women, senior Johanna Erickson lead the way with a time of 21:36.0 and a 97th place finish. Junior Olivia Stein, who has been battling a sore knee, finish second for the Redhakws with a time of 21:44.4 and a 108th place finish in the field. Freshman Megan Delorey (175th, 22.38.5), sophomore Shannan Higgins (179th, 22:44.5) and freshman Rachel Kastama (197th, 23:01.9) rounded out the scoring runners for Seattle U.

On the men's side, junior Eli Boudouris lead the Redhawks with a time of 32:09.4 good enough for 122nd place. Senior Jacques Hebert ran a time of 32:11.9 and finished two places behind Boudouris at 124th. Senior Matthew Seidel (132nd, 32:19.4), senior Tyler Flannery (176th, 33:13.4) and sophomore Blake Delaney (178th, 33:16.2) rounded out the scoring runners for Seattle U.

"You always want to do better," Head Coach Kelly Sullivan said. "I can't fault anybody on both sides about their effort today, they raced hard. I think we are in better shape than the results reflect. I am really happy for Johanna, for her to finish her senior year off racing as well as she did today was great. Olivia ran her best race at the Lewis/Clark State Invitational but has been nursing a knee injury since and hasn't been able to workout at all. It has been hard on her but I am very proud of her for lining up and competing both at the WAC Championship and today. On the men's side I think part of it right now is that we probably haven't gotten the volume of work in to handle a 10k, we've had to manage a lot of aches and pains. Spirits are really high and we are excited about indoor and outdoor."

Track and field will have their first event in January.
