SEATTLE – (Oct. 12) Seattle University women’s soccer settled for a scoreless draw with UTRGV Thursday night. The teams went the full 110 minutes with no goals in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) game at rain-soaked Championship Field.

"I thought that was the best we've played in awhile," said Coach Julie Woodward. "I was proud of how we maintained possession. We did everything tonight, except for the fun part."

The teams were even for much of the night. SU held possession for the majority of the first half and accumulated a 5-2 shot advantage through 45 minutes. Seattle U was unable to convert a penalty kick midway through the frame.

In the second half, the hosts continued to control the ball and SU notched four shots to UTRGV’s three tries, with neither getting on the board.

The overtime frames saw some action, but once again, the defenses stood tall, forcing the draw.

Mackenzie Curry recorded two saves and UTRGV made four stops.

The Redhawks welcome New Mexico State for another WAC match on Saturday. The game is slated for a noon start at Championship Field.
