EDINBURG – (Oct. 6) No. 18 Seattle University men’s soccer tied, 2-2, at UTRGV Friday afternoon. Medo Youssef scored two goals in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) contest at a steamy UTRGV Soccer and Track and Field Complex.

"They had a game plan and they executed it," said Coach Pete Fewing. "I was pleased we came back in the second half. Medo's goals were hustle goals. We'll get back on track and play Sunday."

The Redhawks controlled the tempo in the first, but the home side took a 1-0 lead into halftime. SU (8-2-1, 2-0-1 WAC) was ready to rally in the second half, though, taking the lead quickly. Six minutes into the frame, Habib Barry sent in a stellar ball to Youssef for a one-touch goal to even the match. Youssef struck again at 56:16, working hard to finish after multiple attempts in the box, putting the Redhawks ahead until the closing minutes of regulation. UTRGV (3-4-2, 0-2-1 WAC) tied it in the 88th minute, forcing extra time.

SU maintained possession in the both OT sessions, earning three corner kicks and three shots, but the hosts kept the Redhawks off the board.

Seattle U held a 21-3 advantage in shots and tallied all eight corner kick tries in the game.

SU heads to Incarnate Word for another WAC match on Sunday. The game is slated for a 11 a.m.
