DENVER – (Oct. 2) Josh Adachi of No. 18 Seattle University men’s soccer has been chosen Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Defensive Player of the Week, for the period ending Oct. 1. The Redhawk goalkeeper recorded two shutouts over the weekend at Championship Field.
Adachi, a redshirt junior, notched three saves in SU’s 1-0 win over San Jose State on Sunday. He stopped two shots in the first half and then saved an attempt from SJSU’s Jeremy Romero in the second frame, preserving the Redhawks’ one-goal lead.
The Pearl City, Hawai’i, native anchored the defense in Seattle U’s 4-0 win over CSU Bakersfield on Thursday.
Adachi has played all 901:42 in goal this season, posting six shutouts in SU’s 8-2-0 start. His shutout total ranks seventh nationally and leads the WAC. He has allowed just seven goals for a 0.70 goals against average, along with a .720 save percentage. Adachi has helmed four 1-0 victories in 2017.
Seattle U hits the road for a pair of WAC games this week, playing at UTRGV (Oct. 6) and Incarnate Word (Oct. 8).
