SEATTLE – (Aug. 28) Seattle University men’s golf Head Coach Marc Chandonnet has released his full schedule for the 2017-18 season, set to include 11 tournaments, including a return to Chambers Bay in April.
“We have a very competitive schedule, once again geared towards preparing our team to compete at WAC Championship in late April,” said Chandonnet, who enters his sixth season at SU in 2017-18.
The Redhawks will compete in five fall tournaments, beginning Sept. 11-12 at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate, hosted by Washington State. They will head to Colorado at the end of September for the Mark Simpson Invitational, hosted by the University of Colorado. The final three fall tournaments will take SU to Fresno, Calif., Simi Valley, Calif., and Stockton, Calif.
The spring season kicks off Jan. 29-30 at the Waves Challenge, hosted by Pepperdine University. The six-tournament spring slate is highlighted by the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational on Apr. 2-3, which will once again be hosted at Chambers Bay, host of the 2015 U.S. Open.
“The 2016-17 season was a very special year for our program,” said Chandonnet, who was named the 2017 WAC Coach of the Year. “It was the culmination of a few years of hard work and a change in culture that allowed us the opportunity to pick up a couple late season wins at the UC Davis event and then the WAC Championship, which propelled our program into its first NCAA Regional appearance since 1965. Our graduating seniors set the bar on many different levels and for that I will forever be grateful.”
