SEATTLE (June 8) – Seattle University men's soccer has released its 2017 schedule. SU will host 11 regularseason games at Championship Field and the Redhawks will take on five teams who made the 2016 NCAA Tournament.

Coach Pete Fewing, in his sixth season as SU's head coach at the Division I level, will look to return the Redhawks to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years.

"I'm very excited about our schedule," said Fewing. "It's great to have 11 home games. We'll have a lot of games that will be fun to watch. It's a very competitive schedule for us."

On Aug. 25, Seattle U welcomes Loyola Marymount for the 2017 season and home opener. Two days later, New Mexico, an NCAA Second Round participant, visits Championship Field.

After a match at 2016 NCAA Tournament qualifier Portland (Sept. 1), the Redhawks take on Mercer, also an NCAA team last season, at home on Sept. 7. SU then takes a trip to Gonzaga on Sept. 10 before opening a five-match home stand. Santa Clara (Sept. 17) and Drexel (Sept. 14) visit Seattle and then NCAA Quarterfinal qualifier Washington comes to Championship Field on Sept. 24, closing non-conference play.

To start WAC action, the Redhawks host CSU Bakersfield (Sept. 29) and San Jose State (Oct. 1). SU then hits the road for two contests, playing at UTRGV (Oct. 6) and Incarnate Word (Oct. 8). Seattle U closes the regular season with three straight home matches before a three-game road swing. Air Force (Oct. 12), UMKC (Oct. 14), and Houston Baptist (Oct. 22) come to Seattle and then the Redhawks play at Grand Canyon (Oct. 29), defending WAC champion UNLV (Oct. 27), and Utah Valley (Nov. 4) to end the schedule.

The WAC Tournament, newly expanded to seven teams, is slated for Nov. 8-12 at UNLV.

In 2016, Seattle U extended its home win streak to 16 matches-the longest active streak in the nation. Kyle Bjornethun was chosen WAC Defensive Player of the Year, while he, Alex Roldan, and Sergio Rivas were each selected All-WAC First Team. Nathan Aune and Sam Langston were both All-WAC Second Team. Bjornethun and Langston have both graduated, while Roldan, Rivas, and Aune will return in 2017.
