SEATTLE (April 20) – Seattle University softball travels to UMKC for its final road series of the 2017 regular season. The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) series begins with a doubleheader on Friday, April 21, at 10 a.m. Pacific (12 p.m. Central) before wrapping up with a single game on Saturday at 10 a.m. Pacific (12 p.m. Central).

The Redhawks (15-26, 4-5 WAC) went 1-2 at Utah Valley last weekend. Andie Larkins was stellar in her three appearances. She started twice, throwing 12.2 innings and giving up two earned runs and 10 hits. She also earned a save, retiring Lyndsay Steverson for the final out of SU’s 10-9 win on April 15. In that game, Savannah Loomis hit a home run and drove in six runs. The RBI total is the most by a Redhawk batter since Theresa Clark tallied seven RBIs against UNLV on April 2, 2011.

UMKC (14-31, 4-5 WAC) split a doubleheader with Creighton on Tuesday, winning 6-5, before losing, 11-5. In the first contest, the ‘Roos trailed, 5-4, entering the bottom of the seventh inning. With a runner on, Morgan Byrn hit a walk-off home run to lift UMKC to a 6-5 victory.

Seattle U, UMKC, and Utah Valley are all 4-5 in WAC play. New Mexico State leads the league with an 8-1 record. Grand Canyon is 6-3, but ineligible for WAC Tournament action. CSU Bakersfield has a 1-8 mark in conference games.

Paige Bouska is batting .379 with a WAC-high 58 hits and 6 triples this season. Nicole Bolasky is hitting .347, while Kaylee Ree sports a team-high .438 on-base percentage. Madison Cathcart paces SU with 10 doubles and 32 RBIs. Larkins and Alyssa Reuble have teamed up to throw 23 complete games and account for all 15 Redhawk wins in the circle.

Kendra Leach leads UMKC with a .395 batting average and 22 RBIs. Byrn has nine homers. Lynsey Conner is 5-11 with a 5.80 ERA in 27 appearances for the ‘Roos.

UMKC won three of four meetings with Seattle U last season, but the Redhawks won, 7-3, in the WAC Tournament. Larkins pitched a complete game, allowing three runs and five hits.
