Idaho Game Notes

SEATTLE (Nov. 9) - Seattle University women’s basketball opens the 2016-17 season on Friday, Nov. 11, as Idaho visits the Connolly Complex. Coach Suzy Barcomb makes her debut as the Redhawks’ new coach. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.

SU beat The Evergreen State College, 75-46, in an exhibition game on Nov. 5. Alexis Montgomery scored 14 points to lead four Redhawks in double figures. Seattle U shot 50 percent from the field and forced 29 Geoduck turnovers.

Idaho defeated Multnomah, 83-45, in an exhibition game on Nov. 5 Mikayla Ferenz scored 15 points, while Brooke Reilly contributed 10 points and eight rebounds for the Vandals.

Last season, SU won nine games. Barcomb takes over a program with six seniors, including Kaylee Best, who was named All-WAC Preseason Second Team by the league’s coaches. She led the team in assists, steals, and free throw percentage last season.

Idaho won the Big Sky Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in the last four years. The Vandals were picked to win the Big Sky in the league’s preseason poll. They hit 10.3 three-pointers per game last season, third-most in Division I.

Idaho leads the all-time series, 9-5, including a 64-60 win at Idaho last November. Ashlyn Lewey, Delanie Parry, and Kaylee Best combined for 34 points for SU, while Geraldine McCorkell led the Vandals with 22 points and four blocked shots.
