The 2014 Western Athletic Conference men’s and women’s tennis All-Conference honorees have been announced and two individuals and one Seattle U doubles team was named, as voted upon by the league’s head coaches. These are SU’s first WAC postseason awards.

Kevin Lynch (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was named First Team All-WAC Singles while Kelli Woodman (Denver, Colo.) was named Second Team All-WAC Singles. Lynch and doubles partner Jason Bediones (Kent, Wash.) also received a Second Team All-WAC Doubles nod.

Lynch helped lead a Seattle U men’s team who posted their highest win total in 2013-14 since the rebirth of the program and was named WAC Male Tennis Player of the Week twice (Mar. 3-9, Apr. 7-13). He posted an 11-11 record at No. 1 singles for the Redhawks as one of two who posted a team-high 12 wins during dual play this season.

As a doubles team, Lynch and Bediones led Seattle U with an 11-13 record, including a 9-11 record in the No. 1 spot in dual play. The senior duo also helped the Redhawks earn the doubles point in their WAC Tournament match vs. UTPA. Bediones was also named Featured Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Apr. 7-13 as he and Lynch earned a pair of doubles victories versus Portland State and Pacific Lutheran en route to a set of team wins on the weekend.

Woodman made an impact for SU women’s tennis during her freshman campaign, posting eight singles wins during dual play, good for second on the team. She also recorded a 6-13 record this spring in doubles competition, of which four wins came in the No. 1 spot.

As both teams made their WAC Tournament debut in 2014, the Redhawks will look to build upon the success of this season as they look forward to the 2014-15 competition year.
