Seattle U Finishes Season After Second Straight WAC Title Game Appearance: Seattle University women's basketball (16-16) advanced to their second straight Western Athletic Conference tournament title game this season, falling to Idaho, 75-67. The Redhawks also say goodbye to Bonvicini’s first Seattle U recruiting class - Kacie Sowell, Ashley Ward, and Sylvia Shephard - who hold the top three spots in SU DI career points scored.

WAC All-Tournament Team: Kacie Sowell and Ashley Ward were named to the WAC All-Tournament team, marking Sowell’s second straight honor and Ward’s first.

Ward Named Featured Student-Athlete of the Week: After helping lead the team to the Western Athletic Conference Tournament championship game for the second year in a row, Ashley Ward was named Featured Student-Athlete of the Week on for the week of Mar. 10-16, 2014. Ward set a new season high in scoring, recording 20 points in the WAC quarterfinals in the team’s 81-76 win over Kansas City on Mar. 12. In three games, Ward recorded 52 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, and three steals, going 18-for-35 (51.4 percent) from the field as well as 14-for-19 (73.7 percent) from the free-throw line. She was also named to the WAC All-Tournament team alongside fellow senior Kacie Sowell.

Williams to Leave Seattle U: Assistant coach Shaquala Williams was named an assistant coach with the Seattle Storm on Tuesday, Mar. 18 after two seasons with the Redhawks. During her time at SU, Williams focused on skill development of guards and wings, scouting opponents, recruiting, and coordinating team camps.

WAC Announces Postseason Awards: For the second year in a row, Kacie Sowell was named First Team All-Conference and Sylvia Shephard was named Second Team All-Conference as well as to the All-Defensive Team.
