Seattle University women’s tennis completed play at the Cougar Classic on the campus of Washington State University.

In the Crimson Flight Consolation bracket, Anna Lambert (Spokane, Wash.) was defeated by Gonzaga’s Samantha Polayes, 6-2, 6-2. Barbara Carey (Seattle, Wash.) won a match in the same round vs. Montana State’s Elli Crum, 6-4, 6-2, 10-6.

In the Second Consolation bracket championship match, Kelli Woodman (Denver, Colo.) defeated Lewis-Clark State’s Deanri Human, 6-0, 6-2.

In the Gray Consolation bracket, Kristen James (Lubbock, Texas) advanced in the round of 16 past Portland’s Gabrielle Gorence, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2, and the quarterfinal match versus Gonzaga’s Franziska Koehler was not played. In the same round, Sarah Lucas (Las Vegas, Nev.) was defeated by Utah State’s Amber Stulhmann, 6-5, 6-5, 10-8.

In the Second Consolation bracket championship match, Jacqueline Jacques (Modesto, Calif.) defeated Lewis-Clark State’s Netti Dayhuff, 6-1, 6-1.

In the Crimson Doubles Consolation bracket, Lambert/Carey advanced to the semifinals on a bye, but the remaining matches were not completed.

In the Gray Doubles Consolation bracket, Kailyn Skjonsby (Grapeview, Wash.)/Jacques advanced to the semifinals on a bye and James/Corinne Wurden (Poulsbo, Wash.) advanced over Gonzaga’s Hanley Caras/Isabell Klingert, 6-5, but the semifinal and finals matches in the bracket were not played.

The team is set to finish their fall competition back at WSU next weekend competing in the WSU Invitational on Oct. 4-6. Stay tuned to for all the latest updates.
