W. Tennis Finishes Day Two at Boise State

The Seattle University women’s tennis team completed day two in their first tournament of the season at the Jack Taylor Classic hosted by Boise State.

In the Blue Flight First Round Loss Consolation Draw, Barbara Carey (Seattle, Wash.) was defeated by Abilene Christian’s Brittney Reed, 6-4, 6-3.

In the Orange Flight First Round Consolation Draw, Sarah Lucas (Las Vegas, Nev.) lost to Weber State’s Nittaya Phonharath, 4-6, 7-5, 10-4. In the Second Round Loss Consolation Draw, Kelli Woodman (Denver, Colo.) was defeated by Idaho’s Belen Barcenilla, 6-2, 6-4.

In the White Flight Singles Main Bracket, Corinne Wurden (Poulsbo, Wash.) was defeated by Utah State’s Lexi Turley, 2-6, 6-0, 6-4. In the First Round Consolation Draw, Kristen James (Lubbock, Texas) defeated Weber State’s Megan Rindlisbacher, 6-2, 6-0, and will face Weber State’s Lauren Schulte on Sunday at 9 a.m.

In doubles action, in the Blue Flight First Round Loss Consolation Draw, Carey and Gabriella Weissman (Simi Valley, Calif.) were defeated by Weber State’s Agata Bachanek and Thais Kurer, 8-5.

In the Orange Flight First Round Consolation Draw, Woodman and Anna Lambert (Spokane, Wash.) were defeated by Utah State’s Amber Stuhlman and Ashley Stuhlman, 8-3.

In White Flight Doubles action, James and Wurden advanced to face fellow Redhawks Lucas and Jacqueline Jacques (Modesto, Calif.) in the finals on Sunday at 9 a.m.

The Redhawks will finish the third and final day of the tournament on Sunday, Sept. 22.
