Seattle University women’s tennis head coach Mark Frisby announced today that reigning Colorado 5A champion Kelli Woodman of Denver, Colo., has signed a National Letter of Intent and will play for the Redhawks starting in the fall of 2013.

A four year letter-winner, Woodman has played atop the Cherry Creek High School singles lineup since her sophomore season, earning the squad’s MVP award sophomore and junior years (her senior season is still underway). She has made the 5A state championship all three years of her career so far, winning the title in 2012 as a junior. Additionally, she has helped Cherry Creek win the last three 5A team championships, and she has also earned Academic All-State designation twice with awards coming in her junior and senior years.

Woodman is currently the 218th highest-ranked player in the nation according to Babolat recruiting lists and is the fourth-highest prospect from the Mountain region. In addition to her successes in high school tennis, Woodman has played in and won several ITA tournaments throughout the western half of the country.

“We are fortunate to get someone of her ability and we are pleased that one of Colorado’s top players chose to come to Seattle University to continue her tennis career,” said Frisby on Woodman.

Woodman fills out the Redhawks’ 2013 signing class, which also includes Jacqueline Jacques (Modesto, Calif.) and Barbara Carey (Seattle, Wash.), who both signed their NLIs in the fall of 2012.
