The Seattle University men's tennis team played a doubleheader against cross-town opponent Washington Friday, losing both matches 7-0 at Bill Quillian Stadium in Seattle, Wash. The two teams played under the NCAA's most recent doubleheader rules where one doubles match and five singles matches are played.

The Redhawks stayed with mostly the same lineup for both matches, only changing the No. 5 singles slot. In both doubles matches, Flavio Malagutti (Rio Claro, Brazil) and Kyle Rapp (Encinitas, Calif.) lost 8-2 decisions, to UW's team of Farkas and Hawke in the first match and McMorrow and Puscalau in match two.

The Redhawks pushed two singles contests to three sets in the second match. At No. 2 singles, Zach Kosanke (Bellevue, Wash.) swapped 6-3 sets with opponent Emmett Egger with Eggert taking the first and Kosanke the second. The match went down to a 10-point supertiebreak, which Eggert taking that 10-6.

Playing in his first dual match of his collegiate career, Brian Nguyen (Edmonds, Wash.) took Nico Lunardi to three sets. Nguyen lost the first in a tiebreak 6-7, but came roaring back in the second set 6-2. Lunardi outlasted Nguyen in the supertiebreak, however, winning 6-7, 6-2, 10-6.

Kosanke's two matches at No. 2 singles were his first matches playing that high in the lineup, while Ian Clare (Sachse, Texas) ventured up to the third spot in the lineup for the first time this season. In his second match of the day, he took four points from UW's Nicholas Kamisar, but lost the match 6-3, 6-1.

Gus Orlando (Sacramento, Calif.) also made his collegiate dual debut, playing at No. 5 singles in match one. Orlando fell 6-2, 6-1 to the Huskies' Rishabh Raman.

Seattle U's (0-12) next match will take place Saturday, March 16, with a home match against Pacific Lutheran. That match, which will take place at the Seattle University Tennis Courts on campus, will begin at 3:00 p.m.
