Boise, Idaho -

Down 3-2 with two singles matches left to finish, the Seattle University women's tennis team came back and won the final two points to beat Weber State 4-3 Saturday in Boise, Idaho.

In the last two singles matches left to finish, Gabriella Weissmann (Simi Valley, Calif.) and Sarah Lucas (Las Vegas, Nev.) both won deciding sets to clinch the match for Seattle U. Weissmann, at No. 3 singles, dropped her first set 3-6 to Nittaya Phonharath. The second set was much closer, going to a tiebreak where Weissmann prevailed 7-6(7-4), and she controlled much of the third and final set, winning 6-3. The win was Weissmann's first singles victory of the dual season.

Moments later, Lucas, at No. 5 singles, outlasted the Bobcats' Michelle Warwick. Lucas took the first set 6-3, and hung tough in the second before falling 6-7(7-4) in the tiebreak. Lucas came back and won the deciding set 6-2 to clinch the match for both herself and the Redhawks.

Earlier in the match, Lindsey Newman (Freeland, Wash.) added to Seattle U's score, winning her third consecutive singles match. At the top of the lineup, she took down Ashley Tanner 6-2, 6-2 in the fastest singles match to finish.

At No. 2 singles, Anna Lambert (Spokane, Wash.) played three sets that ended 6-4. Her opponent, Kristi Elmer, took the first and third sets while Lambert won the middle set.

Rounding out the singles lineup, Kristen James (Lubbock, Texas) fell to Annika Karlsen 6-1, 7-5 in the sixth singles spot, while Corinne Wurden (Poulsbo, Was.) lost 6-3, 6-2 to Weber State's Thais Kurer at No. 4 singles.

The Redhawks kicked off the match by taking the doubles point two matches to one. Newman and Lucas each won their second match on the day by defeating Weber State's duo of Tanner and Warwick 8-4, while Wurden and James collected an 8-5 victory over the Bobcats' Lloyd and Phonharath. At No. 1 doubles, Lambert and Weissmann lost 8-3 to Weber State's Kurer and Elmer.
