The Western Athletic Conference announced the conference's fall season All-Academic Honors Tuesday, bestowing the honor to 41 Seattle University student-athletes. In order to be considered WAC All-Academic, the student-athlete must carry a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, participate in at least half of the team's contests, and have completed at least one academic year at that institution.

The SU women's soccer team received 13 selections, the most of any SU program, with the award going to seniors Liana Heberer, Chelsea Jennings, Carlee Norquist, Heather Thomas, and Renee Vandermause; juniors Ava Ames, Shawna Anderson, Julia Besagno, Monique Escalera, and Kat Prati; and sophomores Kiana Kraft, Taylor Ritzman, and Stephanie Verdoia.

The men's cross country team saw 11 runners earn All-Academic honors, including seniors Erik Barkhaus, Ryan Dennison, and Matthew McClement; juniors Jeff Baklund, Graham Kinzel-Grubbs, Kevin Kopetz, and Peter VanNuland; and sophomores Baxter Arguinchona, Miles Hille, Collin Overbay, and David Strand.

The women's cross country squad earned 10 All-Academic honors, led by seniors Justine Bates and Jennifer Stolle and juniors Hannah Mittelstaedt and Mary Thompson. Those four were joined by sophomores Sophie Curatilo, Madison Davis, Haley Kruell, Meghan Manwill, Kimberly Pugliese, and Amy Tolentino.

The volleyball squad earned seven selections as seniors Kelly Biette and Kaytlyn Dill, juniors Lani Beadle, Allison Farley, Sarah Jaeckel, and Karli Pedone, and sophomore Alec Goodrie all met the qualifications for WAC All-Academic.

The academic honors add to a successful fall season for the Seattle University athletics department, highlighted by Barkhaus winning the WAC cross country championship and the women's soccer team advancing to the semifinals of the conference tournament.
