“Monique is such a dynamic offensive player and really helps add something to our attack,” said head coach Julie Woodward. “She is extremely hard to defend and is very explosive.”
In the team’s 1-1 draw in 2OT at UTSA, Escalera recorded her fourth assist of the season on Verdoia’s game-tying goal. In the Redhawks’ first WAC victory, 2-0, at Texas State, she scored her first goal of the season and co-led the team with two shots on the match.
Escalera also excels academically, as she currently has a 3.083 cumulative GPA and is majoring in Spanish.
Seattle U starts a short homestand on Sunday, Oct. 7, as they host Idaho in their conference home opener at 12 p.m. The Redhawks will host Utah State on Friday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. before hitting the road again.
