After recording a hat trick versus Eastern Washington in Seattle University's 3-0 victory on Aug. 26, sophomore midfielder Taylor Ritzman (Holladay, Utah) has been named Featured Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Aug. 20-26 on GoSeattleU.com. This was the second hat trick for the Redhawks already this season, as Melissa Busque (St. Bruno, Quebec, Canada) recorded one in the team's 5-1 victory over St. Mary's on Aug. 19.
"It was so fun to see Taylor get a hat trick," said Seattle U women's soccer head coach Julie Woodward. "I thought she was very composed and had a great game."
Ritzman scored all three goals for the Redhawks versus Eastern Washington in just 31 minutes of play. The first two were scored within three minutes of entering the game, just 25 seconds apart. Throughout the match, she took four shots total, all on goal.
Academically, she has a 3.0 cumulative GPA and is majoring in psychology.
Seattle U women's soccer extends their homestand, hosting Portland State on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 1 p.m. before hitting the road for four straight away games.
The Seattle University athletics department names a Featured Student-Athlete each Tuesday based on performances both in the classroom and in competition.
