Max Walker was named Featured Student-Athlete of the Week after helping lead SU to a 3-2 victory versus Cal State Bakersfield.

Seattle University men's soccer player Max Walker was named Featured Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 10. The Redhawk senior helped lead SeattleU to a 3-2 victory on Senior Day versus Cal State Bakersfield. The SU goalkeeper tallied four saves in his first full game of play of the season.

"I am extremely proud of Max for receiving this honor," said head men's soccer coach Brad Agoos. "He has battled back from two injuries the last two seasons and did a great job in goal for us on Senior Day."

Walker had a triumphant return to the field in his final home contest of his SeattleU career. In 90 minutes between the pipes, the 'keeper tallied four saves and helped seal SU's third Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) conference victory on the year.

The Lake Tapps, Wash., native battled to get back on the pitch for his final season with the Redhawks. Between rehabbing from two straight seasons plagued with injuries, he maintained a 3.16 cumulative grade point average as a mathematics major.

Walker and the Redhawks (4-11-1, 3-4 MPSF) close out the 2009 campaign this Thursday, Nov. 12, in Portland, Ore. SeattleU will square off with the Pilots of the University of Portland in a 7 p.m. match. SU concluded their first season in the MPSF in a tie for fourth-place in the eight-team conference.
