SEATTLE – (May 14) For the first time since 1965, Seattle University men's golf begins play in the NCAA Tournament on Monday, May 15 at Aldarra Golf Club in Sammamish, Wash.

The 2017 Western Athletic Conference team champions earned the league's automatic berth and are now the 12th seed at the Washington Regional. The Redhawks will tee off on Monday morning between 9:15-9:59 and will be playing round one with 10 and 11 seeds Michigan and Michigan State, respectively.

The Redhawks have seen their stock rise throughout the 2016-17 season and were recently ranked atop's listing of all Division I teams by movement from fall ranking to spring ranking. In the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, Seattle U was ranked 156th at the close of the fall season. The Redhawks enter the NCAA Tournament ranked 77th, good for a +79 ranking increase. Eighty-one teams and 45 individuals will be competing in six NCAA Men's Regional Championship sites, May 15-17 (13 teams and 10 individuals at three regionals and 14 teams and five individuals at three regionals). Thiry teams and six individuals will advance from regional sites to the national championships to be played May 26-31 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.
