The Seattle University coaching debut of Cameron Dollar was a successful one, as the team shot 54.7 percent from the field, won the rebounding battle, and forced 22 turnovers in a 96-68 win over Pacific Lutheran in an exhibition game Saturday night at the Connolly Center.

Junior college transfer Charles Garcia (Los Angeles, Calif.) showed his athleticism, leading all players with 27 points on 12-of-17 shooting from the field, including two three-pointers, and nine rebounds. Senior Chris Gweth (Beaverton, Ore.) contributed 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field along with six rebounds and four steals.

The Redhawks moved the ball around throughout the night, as five unanswered baskets by five different players early in the first half gave the home team an 18-7 advantage. Another 12-2 run over a four-minute span later in the half was punctuated by a Garcia dunk and allowed SeattleU to extend the advantage to 21 points at 41-20.

Pacific Lutheran came as close as 14 points down two minutes into the second half before SeattleU put the hammer down with a 12-2 scoring run, finished off by a traditional three-point play from Garcia. Those would be the final points of the night for the big man, as no one played more than 25 minutes and all 12 active players saw time on the floor.

Making his return to the Connolly Center after sitting out last year, Ricky Berry (Phoenix, Ariz.) came off the bench and scored 11 points. Gavin Gilmore (Pasco, Wash.) earned the start and contributed nine points, while Aaron Broussard (Federal Way, Wash.) added eight points and seven rebounds and Alex Jones (Phoenix, Ariz.) also scored eight points during the night. Cervante Burrell (Sacramento, Calif.) dished out seven assists to go along with his six points.

The Lutes did not have anyone reach double figures in scoring, as Tommy Begalka hit three long-distance shots to lead the team with nine points. Pacific Lutheran was held to 37.9 percent field goal shooting, including 6-of-22 from behind the three-point line, and was outrebounded by SeattleU, 49-33.
