Denver (4-9-3, 1-4-1 MPSF) jumped on the board almost 14 minutes into the match, as Collin Audley picked up a loose ball during a scramble and converted to put the home team ahead. Just over a minute and a half later, the Pioneers struck again as Michael Perry drove up the right side and sent a crossing pass to Nathan Sackeyfio, who was successful on a one-timer from five yards out to put Denver up, 2-0.

The action picked up again late in the first half, as SeattleU goalie Ivan Dizdar (Phoenix, Ariz.) stopped consecutive shots by Jesse Henderson. On the counterattack with about four minutes remaining before halftime, Ed Walugembe (Renton, Wash.) was able to direct a shot on goal, but Pioneer netminder Joe Willis was able to make the save.

With about ten minutes remaining in regulation, Denver added to the lead, as Mark Weigand passed the ball to Josh Wren, who chipped it in from 15 yards out on the left side to increase the Pioneers' lead to 3-0. Just over three minutes later, Sackeyfio picked up his second assist of the night, dishing the ball to Matt Kirby, who converted from the top right corner of the box.

As in the first half, the end of the second half saw an increase in the offensive attack, as Sean Morris (Bothell, Wash.), Demaci Roussos (Sacramento, Calif.), and Cheno Barajas (White Salmon, Ore.) attempted shots that were either blocked or just wide in the span of one minute. After Dizdar turned away a shot from Kirby, Troy Bratten (Troutdale, Ore.) earned SeattleU's final chance at ending the shutout, but Willis made the save with six seconds left to preserve the clean sheet.

Dizdar finished the night with eight saves, while Willis earned four saves for the Pioneers. Morris and Elliot Richards (Seattle, Wash.) led SeattleU with three saves each, while Kirby led all players with five total shots, including three shots on goal. Denver outshot SeattleU, 18-14, including 12 shots on goal versus four for the Redhawks.

Seattle University (3-11-1, 2-4-0 MPSF) welcomes Cal State Bakersfield Sunday, Nov. 8, to Championship Field for a 1 p.m. contest. Before the match, Senior Day ceremonies will take place honoring those who are playing the final home games of their collegiate careers for the Redhawks.
