After establishing a new outdoor school record in the triple jump, senior captain Cali Cull (Marysville, Wash.) has been named the Western Athletic Conference Female Field Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference office.

Cull broke her own two-year-old school record in the triple jump at the Ken Shannon Invitational last Saturday, finishing third in the event with a mark of 11.31 meters (37’ 1.25”), a quarter of a meter further than her old outdoor mark. It’s is Cull’s longest collegiate triple jump in either indoor or outdoor track and field.

Cull, the 2012 Great West Conference Indoor champion in the triple jump, is seventh on the WAC performance list entering this week’s conference championships. Cull also holds the Seattle U indoor track and field record in the triple jump at 11.30 meters (37’ 1”), set Jan. 12, 2013, and she ran the third leg in the 4x400 meter relay at February’s WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships that set a new school record with a time of 3:54.08.

The Seattle University track and field team heads to Orem, Utah, for the 2014 Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Utah Valley University May 14-17. The Redhawks will begin competition with the 10,000 meter run Thursday, May 15, with the meet kicking into full gear over the final two days of Friday and Saturday, May 16-17.
