Allegra Wilde (Kennewick, Wash.), a senior on the Seattle University softball team, has earned Capital One Academic All-District VIII First Team Honors, as voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She was also named Academic All-District VIII First Team in the University Division during the 2011 season before Seattle U returned to full NCAA Division I status.

“Allegra has been a rock star on and off the field all four years,” said head coach Dan Powers. “She has worked hard and I’m proud to see her receive recognition for her efforts.”

Entering the final regular season weekend series of her collegiate career, Wilde ranks second on the team, averaging .276 at the plate, with 18 runs, seven doubles, one home run, and 14 RBIs. Over her Redhawk career, she has amassed 68 runs, 32 doubles, two triples, five home runs, 72 RBIs, and 19 stolen bases.

Wilde currently boasts a 3.81 GPA in accounting, the third highest GPA among her fellow All-District First Team honorees. Outside of her excellence in the classroom and on the field, she also participated in the Africa Start-Up program, taking a service learning trip to Ghana, Africa in December 2011, sponsored by Seattle U’s Albers School of Business and Economics. While there, the team helped assist small business owners create a sustainable structure for their businesses, helping to alleviate poverty.

Wilde is now eligible to receive Capital One Academic All-America honors, which will be announced by CoSIDA on May 23.

The Seattle U softball team is set to host Louisiana Tech for a three-game Western Athletic Conference series to close out the regular season, as both teams hope to qualify for next week’s WAC Tournament. The Redhawks and Lady Techsters face for a doubleheader at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 3 and a single game at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4. Saturday will be Senior Day as the team honors five seniors, including Wilde, as they play their final home game in SU uniform.
