Coming off a 3-1 win over Vancouver Whitecaps U18 in their first spring game, Seattle University women’s soccer will continue with several tough Pacific Northwest opponents during their spring 2013 schedule.

“We are very excited about another challenging spring schedule,” said head coach Julie Woodward. “The team played really hard last night, and it was fun to see so many individual improvements. With a consistent approach, the team is going to get to a new level by the end of the spring.”

With the spring schedule starting Mar. 3 vs. the Vancouver Whitecaps in Bellingham, Wash., the Redhawks will continue with an intersquad/alumni 11 vs. 11 match on Sunday, Mar. 10 at 7 p.m. under the lights at Seattle University Park.

To round out spring competition for the month of March, SU will face Washington at Husky Soccer Stadium on Thursday, Mar. 14 at 7 p.m.

Taking a break for finals and spring break, Seattle U will return to action facing Seattle Pacific at Interbay Stadium on Monday, Apr. 8 at 7:30 p.m. The following weekend, on Sunday, Apr. 14, they will make the short trip down I-5 to Portland, facing Portland State at 10:30 a.m. at Hillsboro Stadium before facing Portland at 3 p.m.

Returning to Seattle, the Redhawks will host Gonzaga (11 a.m.) and Western Washington (3 p.m.) at Championship Field on Sunday, Apr. 21, followed by a match vs. Seattle Sounders Women at Starfire Stadium on Friday, Apr. 26 at 7 p.m.

Seattle U will wrap up the spring season with an alumni game on Saturday, May 4 at Championship Field at 4 p.m. Odd vs. even graduating years will compete against each other, as current Seattle U players will not compete.

The Redhawks will look to continue their success in the Western Athletic Conference this fall, as they work to build upon their semifinals finish in the 2012 WAC Tournament.
