Seattle University softball (8-9) played their final game of the weekend as part of the UCSB Invitational, falling to the Gauchos, 4-0. The Redhawks went 1-4 over the weekend, defeating South Dakota State on day one of the tournament.

Seattle U left two on base in the first inning, with Jenny Hurst (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) advancing as far as second, but a final strikeout ended the inning. UCSB took the early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the inning as Kathryn Pilpil hit a single to drive in Arianna Palomares, who reached base on a double to left center.

Neither team was able to add to the score in the quiet second, third, or fourth innings, with either team leaving only one runner on base in the bottom of the third and each half of the fourth inning. Brianna Guerrero (Buena Park, Calif.) made it as far as second in the top of the fourth, which was the Redhawks' best chance to score in the middle three innings.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Gauchos added to their tally as they led, 2-0, with Jessica Soria driving in Jessica Tetzlaff on an RBI single up the middle. They left two on base to end the inning but could not add to their score.

UCSB drove in their final runs in the bottom of the sixth as Keilani Jennings hit a 2RBI homer to left center to make the final score 4-0. A quick three and out for the Redhawks gave the Gauchos the win.

Jessica Ulrich (Lewiston, Idaho) allowed all four runs while walking two and striking out three, as she was handed the loss. Shelby Wisdom earned the complete game shutout in the circle, allowing just two Redhawk hits while striking out eight.

The Redhawks return home to host Ohio University (3 p.m.) and Bradley University (6 p.m.) on Thursday, Mar. 7 before competing in the UW Spring Classic at the University of Washington on Mar. 8-10 where they will face New Mexico, Ohio, Yale, and UW.
